Office cleaning contracts go wrong when nobody wrote down who does what. Here is how to specify a clean properly, what it should cost in Birmingham, and what to check before signing anything.
Birmingham rates
Commercial rates sit slightly below domestic because visits are shorter and routine. Expect £16 to £22 per hour across the city. Preshine charges £18 per hour with products and consumables managed for you.
How often
Frequency follows headcount and footfall, not office size:
- Under 10 desks, low footfall: twice a week
- 10 to 30 desks: three to five times a week
- Client-facing reception or studio: daily
- Washrooms and kitchens: daily wherever possible
What to put in the specification
A one-page schedule avoids nearly every dispute. List daily, weekly and monthly tasks separately, name who supplies consumables, set access and alarm arrangements, and agree how issues are reported and by when they are fixed.
What to check before signing
